Online suppliers

This page is for links to online suppliers of finishing materials. This can be anything from patchwork fabric to pinkeep pins to wool felt, ribbons, ricrac, bellpull ends - anything that can be used in finishing your projects. Add your favourite links in the comments along with any relevant information about the shop (including the country it’s based in, the type of finishing supplies they sell and payment method, e.g. if they take PayPal) and we’ll add them to the list. Ebay shops are also acceptable.

At this stage, please don’t include purely brick and mortar stores (i.e., without a website) and please only include shops that will ship internationally so that the shops aren’t limited to people living in a particular country.

Bellpull hardware

• USA - Nordic Needle - Wide range of bellpull hardware and wire hangers. In my experience shipping is slow but reliable, just don’t order if you want something in a hurry.

• USA - Stitching Bits and Bobs - range of different-shaped and sized metal forms for finishing ornaments. Takes PayPal. Overseas shipping (not Canada) is $11 flat rate so probably better to combine as part of a larger order. Also, shipping can be slow, so worth bearing that in mind.

Patchwork/quilting fabric

• AU - Honeysuckle Cottage -
• UK - The Bramble Patch - Great choice of cotton patchwork fabrics including lots of Moda and Makower lines. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the local area. Credit card only
• UK - Buttonberry - Patchwork and quilting shop (mainly Moda ranges). Takes PayPal. Fast and very friendly, although I felt the shipping was a little pricy, so make it worth your while (they sell wonderful kits and patterns for all kinds of quilty things!)
• UK - The Cotton Patch - Nice choice of cotton patchwork fabrics including Thimbleberries and Kaffe Fassett. If you visit the shop in person, please be aware that they will only cut long quarters, not fat quarters (you can, of course, have bigger cuts and they do fat quarters in the online shop). They also have a blog. Credit or debit card payments
• USA - Shabby Fabrics - Wonderful selection of shabby chic cotton prints, including loads of pretty florals. I’ve not used them personally, but have seen them recommended on BBs.

Pins for pinkeeps/pincushions

• USA - The Crafty Elephant (Ebay shop) - great range of pearl-headed pins, including teardrop shape. I haven’t personally used them, but have seen them mentioned positively on blogs. Takes PayPal
• USA - Vikki Clayton - decorative headed pins (leaves, birds, flowers) Generally fast, efficient service. Takes PayPal

Ribbons/trims

• UK - Nostalgia - Silk and organza ribbons, including hand-dyed silk and a wide range of trims, including Mokuba trim. Payment by credit card, cheque or £ Sterling Money orders
• USA - Elegant Stitch - White silk ribbons for dyeing yourself
• USA - Vikki Clayton - silk and silk satin ribbons. Generally fast, efficient service. Takes PayPal
• USA - Wyndham Needleworks - Gloriana silk ribbons. They don’t always have everything in stock so can take a little while. NB: Check out the list of countries they will ship to before ordering, as they won’t send to some countries

Silk dupioni

• UK - The Silk Route - lovely quality silk and beautiful colours. Friendly, helpful service - if you don’t see what you want online, just email/phone. Payment by cheque, debit or credit card.
• USA - Elegant Stitch - fat quarters in a range of colours (with DMC equivalents for colour guidance).

• UK - Myriad Natural Toys - not used them myself, but have seen them recommended on blogs. Shipping is quite expensive so make your order worthwhile
